Wow, can you believe it’s already been almost a month since Josh and I got engaged? Time sure flies…
As you can imagine, I’ve been spending lots of time researching venues, poring over wedding ideas on Pinterest, and chatting with Josh and my family and friends a ton.
There are already a lot of things I know (but of course many, many unknowns too).
what I know :
+ We really want to get married in 2013. Lots to do in so little time!
+ It will have a country / rustic feel with modern amenities. Barns and tents are good and beautiful. But so are bathrooms, electricity, heat, and air conditioning.
+ The food will be vegetarian. And we want that food to be incredible.
+ It will be in Connecticut. While our new home of Vermont is beautiful and would make for a perfect wedding spot, Connecticut is where we both grew up, where we met, and where most of our family and friends are. Plus, Connecticut still has that homey, New England feel.
+ I love mason jars, baker’s twine, burlap, and wood, and green, yellow, and orange.
+ I love naked cakes. Like these ones.
+ I have a meeting set up with a caterer to talk about farm-to-table ideas, and we have an appointment to check out the first venue soon.
+ We have a J Crew bridal shop appointment in New York City booked. I’ll be going with my mom and sister, and think it’ll be fun and special. And maybe slightly stressful?
+ Pinterest has amazing ideas. But they are ideas that often look perfect, and life isn’t as perfect as the photos. But the wedding will be beautiful no matter what, and perfect for us and our families.
+ I am learning how to stay calm, state my feelings, and breath. Compromise is key.
+ I believe that a wedding is about stating our vows and sharing our commitment to each other.
+ I also think it’d be helpful to buy some kind of wedding planning book – any recommendations?
